Hello so i'm pretty new to all this, but After doing a little research I decided to get a old used/refurbished GBA.
I've been playing older roms for some time now, but I have yet to try loading roms onto a handheld console(or any console for that matter).
I'm considering getting an EZ-Flash IV card for the many variants of use it has.
I've searched through the forums a bit and have gathered that GBA rom linking works(mostly on the DS from what i can tell of posts), but not for all games.

My question mostly involves the pokemon games, as a number of pokemon won't evolve unless traded.
My girlfriend has a GBA herself, and one or two of the pokemon games.
So Could I (using one of those games on a rom with the EZ-Flash IV card), trade with her ( using her GBA and one of the actual game carts{or possibly another EZ-Flash card with the same roms} using the GBA link cable?

Form what i've read on the forums thus far it seems like a yes, but depends on the game, and that the rom may require patching.

I really just want to make sure before purchasing the card.

Thank you.

By the sound of things you are confusing two concepts

1) GBA multiplayer via link cable. Does what it says and allows sometimes one cart to ship a small version of the game out to multiple people or people with enough carts to play multiplayer. The DS does not have a GBA link port and as such can not do this but if you are on a GBA though you can do this- there have been issues in the past with linking but in those cases first try disabling as many patches as you can (where it says reset and such) or patching with GBATA ( http://www.no-intro.org/tools.htm ) and if that does not work then hit me up- we found games patched with the old EZClient for the EZ2 worked but we have not reverse engineered the client enough to do it to files (I have to burn to an EZ2 and rip it back out). I have a few patches already out there as well- I recently made one for the US version of Ruby although I have not seen it work http://www.4shared.com/file/RPekE9ng/09 ... h__U_.html

I should also mention you can use your EZ4 saves with an emulator and ones like VBAlink* (and I think VBAm these days) support linking not to mention cheats to do similar things (I do not think the GBA pokemon save editing is up there with pokesav for the DS games but it is not bad and cheats are very much there).
*should just be a matter of pressing file- import - battery save or something along those lines.

2) DS GBA cart linking. Here you have a DS game and it looks to the GBA slot to find a game (usually of the same series or a related one- megaman can see boktai I believe). This is twofold- most games just wanted the start of the header in the GBA cart and they would work and the EZ4 added this ability if done properly. Pokemon for the DS on the other hand wanted a proper save done and as such needed to be hacked to read from the EZ4's SRAM rather than the original cart's Flash type memory. Discussion on the matter viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17660 (see also the later replies that discuss a bit of how to do it on an emulator).
