Hmm... can't say I have ever seen that before.

I assume you know holding R when booting will cause the EZ4 to attempt to find ezfla_up.bin and flash it to the loader section of the EZ4 (you would usually only do this to change loader or change skins). In this case I would look at your ezfla_up.bin being dodgy (if you rolled your own are you sure it was done properly?), your miniSD (if you are using a microSD to miniSD adapter then it could be that), contacts on the various pins and after that I will consider something more interesting.

I'm using a microSD to miniSD adapter. I guess that's the problem.
I'll go purchase a miniSD card. Is 2GB the maximum size?

Yes, but for the record, some non-SDHC 4GB cards work, but the chances of finding one are extremely low, so yes, stick with 2GB, and choose a decent brand like SanDisk or Samsung, I had a non-branded microSD for my EZIV, and after three games were put on, it stopped working, for no reason! Just a heads up.

Yeah that would be great (although if you can do try to update first as 2 gig support was added shortly after the EZ4 was released).

To update it do I just download the newest client?

No you update the EZ4 side of things by holding R when you boot the EZ4- it then finds ezfla_up.bin and flashes that.

Although do pick up a copy of the newest EZ4client as well.

Ah sorry this thread seemed to get lost in the sea of tabs I seem to have amassed of late.

So you have a presumably good 2 gigabyte SD card- formats well (fat16) and with no errors
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/s ... ter20.html being the go to tool to test/do all that. I have not seen it in a while (more productive to fake/run off bad micro or regular SD) but dodgy miniSD cards are out there.
Do also check the miniSD contacts- they can come covered in gunk and who knows what went on in the quite possibly several years it was sitting in the warehouse (or worse) before it was sold.

After this the error then is the same as the original one?

Two main theories at this point assuming everything is good.
1) Bad EZ4- there might be things to test here and maybe trying to inject things to the loader section manually (cory1492 made some tools for it years ago but let us not head down this path unless we have to).

2) The EZ4 is on software so old it does not accept 2 gig miniSD cards (back when the EZ4 was released the 2 gig cards were at silly prices compared to 1 gig cards so 2 gig support was added later). You might be able to repartition it (or more like limit it to 1 gig- multiple partitions on simple flash memory is a tricky game to play) with diskmgmt.msc (should be available in all sensible versions of windows). It has been several years since I had to go down this path not to mention I still have all sorts of sized cards so even then I do not have to worry on those occasions.
