I really don't know a single thing about using the cart, but i am a fast learner so could some 1 help me.

NOTE: I have not updated my firmware, because i do not know whare the most updateed one can be found, also i am not sure if i am using the right software i am using EZ_Client 1.04. one last thing im VERY NOOB with this cart i mean i just got it about a week ago and i still cant fix the problem, and the wiki is no help.

Have you tried formatting to FAT16 and FAT32?
Sometimes FAT16 is simply referred to as FAT.

As far as your problem goes I haven't seen the error myself and the message makes it sound pretty simple but one never knows.

You should try using the "official" SD card format tool by panasonic:
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/s ... atter.html

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page for the link.

Once installed and you run the app you need to choose the options button and select
FORMAT TYPE: Full (erase on)
FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT: on

It might help or it might not.

Besides that this is the firmware that is best suited for GBA usage:
http://www.4shared.com/file/13462116/e3 ... RESET.html

If you are really having a filesystem error there stands a good chance you won't be able update the firmware.

And I imagine your ez4client is probably good but the "latest" pack can be found here:
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=5234

Basically the ez4 client hasn't changed for a couple years but the patch files that improve compatibility and the ROM database files are frequently updated.

You won't need to update the ROM database very much at all if GBA is all you use.

Before you get really crazy you should try to pick up another SD card from somewhere and test with that. Borrow one or get a new one. You can use MicroSD cards as long as they come with a mini adaptor.

If you can get things working check out my tutorial:
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=13248

Good luck.

Hi there, I have the same issue. Tried a few different sd micro cards, with the mini adapter. I've even formated them using the tool recommended on the flash.cn website.

Did you ever find a solution to this?

Thanks, Kyle

I would first make sure the card is formatted in FAT16 (not 32).
EZ-Flash IV will only work in FAT16 on a GBA.

In modern OSes you do not get an option to format in FAT16 so you will have to right click on My Computer/Computer and then go to Manage. Double click on Disk Management, Right click the drive which represents your SD Card in the window on the top that says "volume" and "Layout" etc. then go to Format. You should now have the option to format as FAT (which is FAT16)

I'm having the exact same problem ... tried all the things suggested in this thread but none of them worked.

That's the 2nd time I'm buying EZflash IV, after my 1st one turned out to be corrupted.
I'm starting to think this is a total scam.

Reflect: It is also my second card! LOL. I thought the filesystem error message was due to a defect on the first.

Background: I had formated to FAT16 in many different methods (in many different OS with many diff tools), and iterated on several different brands of low capacity cards microsd (all 2GB), and many minisd->microsd converters.

Nothing works. Not a scam, just a definite flaw in how I/O is done .. at least it is looking that way. Perhaps we've found a large batch of defects.

I admit this use case is a bit less common these days (using on a GBA SP for GBA games), so maybe it is less tested.

I will see what results I get on an NDS.

I just received mine today and having the exact same issue as the posters above. I've tried multiple formats on multiple SD cards, on both a GBA-SP and DS lite, tried inserting the mini SD card differently, tried the paper trick, etc.

If I put ezfla_up.bin in the root directory and hold R, I get a black screen.

If I boot up normally, I get the FAT filesystem error when it tries to read the card.

Pretty frustrating...

EDIT: Also just tried the Panasonic formatter, but still got the same results afterward.

Yeah tell me about it. Using a MiniSD card, instead of my many microSD->MiniSD combinations (many adapters and card types) tried earlier, I am able to at least load games.

But now, I still get many error [sector : ** data: **] errors with ever changing sector and data values. This leads to unpredictable game behavior that is sometimes.. sorta playable: Kinda cool but not playable, scrambled sprites, hit detection off for some sprites, so you can pass right through walls and enemies, game locking up etc.

Yeah, I've already spent way more than the EZF card is worth in other cards and adapters. This is ridiculous.

I am still playing with paper tricks all over this stupid thing... I am tricking out the cart pins.. tricking out the SD card to help make contact... no luck.. at least no real luck.

I resolved my issue. Got a real Transcend 2GB miniSD (NOT MICRO) and the EZ Flash 4 seems to like this media. It seem to play flawlessly! :)
