After some searching I found the NewZelda game from Lupi requires a slot 2 card (3in1, EZ IV, M3, Supercard). If you load the game in NOR w/3in1 and use the EZ as a passme it should work. I guess you can mark it as working.

You were right syntax. NewZelda works from slot2. However it takes some patching. It is needed to append a loader (like in the old days!!!!) to get it working. Editing now.

Thanks for the heads up!

How do I do the 'DLDI swap' as described for Moonshell2 and DSDoom?

What i do is to take the dldi file from Kernel 1.9 OB11, rename it and then copy it to the Kernel 2.0 folder.

1) What kind of microSD do you use? If you use regular microSD, the file to rename is: Ez5s.dldi. If you use microSDHC, the file to rename is: Ez5sdhc.dldi.

2) Rename to EZ5V2.dldi and copy and replace that same file in EZ5Shell folder.

Good Luck!

MoonShell is probably your best bet. If this is your first time using DS homebrew of any kind, you may also want to read up on DLDI patching. You don't really need to, as most flashcards auto-patch homebrew nowadays.

ANYWAY! The reason I'm actually posting here is that I'm sorta struggling to get Heretic DS running on my EZVi and 3in1. I've managed to get the proper WAD, build the .ds.gba file, load it onto my 3in1, and even use the EZVi's passme function to load it on the DS! Buuuut the game freezes as soon as I hit any buttons, and without input, just loops on the title screen. Also there's a little weirdness going on with the background of the bottom screen as it loads and unpacks things, like that WAD I mentioned earlier.

Basically, what I want to do is load homebrew software designed to be booted off a slot-2 card from my 3in1 - I'm not even sure if this is possible, or if it is, and I'm doing it wrong, or if I'm doing it right and Heretic DS is just not meant for this sort of thing under any circumstances.

Have you tried manually patching the DLDI files on it with the 3-in-1 ones?

Hi, i use this one a lot. To get DS code to run from Slot2 you must append a loader (there are a few that can be found).
Here you have some links:
http://dev-scene.com/NDS/Converting_NDS_to_DS_GBA
http://www.maxconsole.net/showthread.ph ... o-.nds.gba
I made a DSHeretic build based on "shadow of the serpent riders" (which have a full five episode to play!) with music and a loader appended. I made my build small enough to fit in NORflash (almost 32MB big).

Things that you can try:
1) Append a loader.
2) Use built in feature to write DSHeretic to NORflash. Save patching phase will never end since DSHeretic is no regular GBA game. So its sure to turn the NDS off when writting phase ends.
3) The WAD is very important (obviously). Look for one that works.
4) Check that your build does not exceed 31MB.
5) Boot with built in NoPass (thats what you did with "passme function").

Let me know if it works (we can try some other things!). Good luck!

This thread is for bug report about homebrew problems on EZflash products. It will help Mbmax to give correct information to EZflash Team. In this way we will have better chances to get fixes for our favourite hombrews.

Its important to keep this thread clean. The information posted must be relaiable, so that the bugs can be reproduced. I think that we can post at least three catergories of information:

HARDWARE: DS version (phat, lite, DSI, DSI XL?) and EZflash version V (nye, plus, etc) or Vi. Is also important to post about the memory you are using.
KERNEL: Which kernel version are you using.
BUG RELATED: Information about the problematic homebrew you are using and detailed information on how reproduce the bug.

Hope this helps.

Im adding the homebrew tested in this topic. I think i can start with some color coding (extendable of course):

BLUE: Works without problems.
RED: Problems persist.
GREEN: Can work with some fix/workaround.

SnemulDS: Compatibility issues with hacked roms under Kernel 2.0 RC10. Under Kernel 1.9 OB 11 compatibility was better.

S8DS feezes on start (L+R screen). Need testing on some EZVi (seems to work ok on EZVplus)

DS linux start correctly on my ez5 v2, but the same microSD on my EZ5i 705 + v14 = white screens.

Moonshell 2. Slowness on progressive JPEG opening.
Moonshell 2. The 3in1 (and other RAM extensions) is not found.
FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap. EZ 3in1 RAM extension correctly detected.

Stella DS (Atari 2600 emulator) -- runs fine, menu looks horrible

fmsxDS 0.09 (or any other version) starts but crashes when I try to load a rom.

Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp: Works fine on a EZ5 first edition but doesn't work on a EZ5i (tested on 2.0rc13).

JabberDS: White screens.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI launched form DSOrganize or MoonShell2.

Tales Of Dragur: When try to save it will get all pixly and chrash!.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI. Launched form DSOrganize or MoonShell2 prevents garbled graphics.

No place to hide: Chrashed!.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI. Launched form DSOrganize or MoonShell2 prevents garbled graphics.

You Have To Burn The Rope DS: doesn't run.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI launched form DSOrganize or MoonShell2.

DSReader -- works fine on my R4, but crashes immediately upon opening with the Vi.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI.

PokeyDS. Crashes as soon as I open the ROM selection menu.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI.

Bunjalloo. Opens , but crashes as soon as I go to enter a URL.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI.

ScummVM. Blackscreen.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Version 1.0.0 works fine with unnofficial DLDI.

New Zelda Game: chrashed!
FIX/WORKAROUND: You have to append a loader to the game file and then copy to NOR memory in your EZ3in1. Now you have a working nds game in your EZ3in1, just boot using EZV as a NoPass. (thanks Syntax)

DSx86: White screens on RC10 and RC11.
FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap alone leaves you with a non working keyboard. But its fine when running form MoonShell 2 or DSOrganize with unnofficial DLDI.

FlashMe: Gives blank screens.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Run from within Moonshell2. (thanks Mbmax)

DoomDS: Doesnt run.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Use unofficial DLDI.

GBAexploader 0.58b not working correctly.
FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap. Replace DLDI driver from this kernel with those updated by ps2aich and cory1492 is not dangerous. Don't worry. The only thing to be careful is to use the right one : Ez5s.dldi for µSD and Ez5sdhc.dldi for µSDHC. Rename the file you need to EZ5V2.dldi and copy in EZ5Shell folder. (thanks Mbmax)

Colors! I can't get the pressure sensitivity on Colors! to work.
FIX/WORKAROUND: I used the calibrate setting and everything works now. (thanks OmerMe)

No, latest tested kernel was RC13. When i have some time to spare with my ds i will update the list for RC14. With previous kernels after DLDI swap everything work pretty much the same (maybe with RC14 its different?).

Please feel free to post any experiences you have with homebrew on RC14!

I test some homebrew with RC14. All i can say is that RC14 is... AWESOME! So far, no issues (Thanks EZTeam for supporting homebrew! ).

I made a new list for homebrew specially for this kernel (maybe for future kernels too).

Anyone having troubles with homebrew with RC14?

Really ? I'm surprised about that because nothing is said about homebrews in last RC14 udpate.
Are you sure you don't use the DLDI driver trick ?
