Nothing i do works. Ive tried everything from 2.20, 2.10, 2.09, 2.08 even trying to go back to the older OS.

OS Update keeps stopping at 30%. Formatting hangs right at the end.

I am on vista and was trying to use 2.22, driver version 1.54.
I have an EZ Flash 3 cart and the EZ writer 2.

I have run EZCheck on the card wiping out everything i had on it, since i could not write anything to the 1g side and now i cant use the card at all.

Ive tried 2 different machines incase it was cause i had external drives connected, etc. Iv e read through a ton of posts here, and nothing has worked.

I have recieved no error messages, and EZcheck runs fine.

Please help!!!

if EZcheck runs okay
theres hope!!

check your USB connection
for EZ3 cradles it -NEEDS-> "USB 2.0"
and no extra stuff like extensions or splitters
these will interrupt the 2.0 signal it needs

check your contacts are clean too
blow out any dust from cradle too

if i can remember the best way to do a clean format
was by running EZcheck / EZrecovery
then do a full format using 2.10 manager
first NOR then NAND

if you still cant format
try to recharge your cart by leaving it connected 2.0 for a few hours
try different USB slots
try changing the mode with EZ_mode.exe
try shuffling your cart in your cradle a little

Done all that.

still no change.

Even left it charging all day.

the 256 side formats fine...tho

its normal for NOR to outlast NAND
sounds like you have some kinda "bad sector" on the NAND or something
its weird EZcheck doesnt detect it

what happens if you load up EZmanager and THEN insert your EZ3 into the cradle??
does it popup a window that says NAND needs a format??
what options are you using to format??

all I can suggest now is
to try all different versions of EZmanager
apparently 2.10 formats differently
there's also a special 2.22 version somewhere
cant remember what it does differently now

First it says there is a new OS available.
and if i click the NAND tab, it wants me to format it, yes.

I use the defaults for formatting. and GBA.

and ive used every single EZ manager version i can get my hands on already =(

I guess my next question is... is can i get a new cartridge without having to buy a new cradle?
Ive had my cartridge since 2005-2006... so it might just be time to get a new one..

i think your cart is still okay

i had a similar problem with 2gbit EZ3
it would only format with 1 manager
and didnt like GBA files on NAND anymore
but it DID still like NDS files :S

are you 100% sure the cradle is okay??
notice the NOR doesnt really get formatted
it just whipes the 32MB area its nothing

NAND is different
it will be fussy about your connection and software

try on a different PC??

Ya ive tried both my desktop and laptop, but both have vista. My cradle - i dunno it doesnt really go any where, its been sitting in my tech drawer and the cartridge was sitting in my GB.

I was a pc tech for 4 years so ive tried everything i can think of and have scoured the forums for every possible solution.

Ive tried 2 different usb cords...

Not sure what to do now..=(

It seemed like other ppl were able to work around the vista proble
I mean everyone pretty much has vista now?

am i pretty much screwed cause my cart is that old?

sorry i dont use vista

but i read that you need to be admin
and need to use some compatability settings (like XP)

but yeah its another older hardware that vista hates
hopefully win7 is better

I was able to bring my cart and stuff into work and test it after hour, and was able to get it formatted and the OS updated on the 2.09 manager on an XP machine!!!

Everyone complained when vista first released about no drivers for the EZIII.
