Post subject: Confused: is there a DS Lite version of the EZ4?
PostPosted: Wed May 10, 2006 4:51 pm
I saw someone mention an EZ4 Lite, or something like that.

Is there already, or going to be, a smaller version of the EZ4 just for the DS Lite? So it doesn't stick out at all?

Thanks.

P.S. I'm having a terribly hard time choosing a flash cart for the DS. So many new choices right now. I even cancelled my M3 Mini-Sd order at Jandamans today because I just found out about the EZ4! I think I'll wait a few weeks before buying. Too bad I can't cancel my 2Gb Sandisk mini-SD (from eslewhere), but it was a pretty good price ($62) and I can still use it in my PocketPC until I get my DS Lite (on June 11th!!!) and flash card.

Ok it's me again. I did some more reading, and can answer my own question now.

In case anyone else had the same question, and reads this topic:

There is supposed to be a DS Lite version of the EZ4, which will be very small and fit neatly inside the DS Lite. So it won't stick out the way normal GBA carts do. It's believed it may use Micro SD (not Mini SD) because they're very small. So far there is no other information.

This is a great forum, and I'm glad I found it today. :)

Sorry if I'm jackin your thread :(

Im thinking about ordering an EZ Flash 4 from here.
http://www.winsunx.com/index.php?mod=Development_Tools

They keep calling it an EZ Flash 4 lite though. Will this thing work in my regular ds? The pictures show a full size cart. Is a "lite" version even out yet?

The lite version is yet to be released. The one sold at Winsunx is in fact the normal version. I purchased mine there and it works in my normal DS just fine. It is the same physical size as a normal GBA game cart.

I don't mind people jacking my thread. So long as it's on the same topic. :P

After seeing some photos of the M3 MiniSD in a DS Lite (it sticks way out), I've decided to wait for the EZ4 Lite to be released, and see if the EZ4 compatability keeps improving. EZ users seem to swear by the company, saying they support their customers well. So I'm going to take things slow and watch what happens.

I think the EZ4 Lite could be a huge hit for the EZ company, since a ton of Lites will be sold worldwide, and I think most Lite owners would prefer a flash cart that doesn't stick out of the GBA slot so much. It's a real opportunity for the EZ to gain some popularity with DS users compared to M3 and Supercard.

If anyone hears any news/info on the EZ4 Lite - please post it here!!!

From what I understand they were tinkering with the idea of using transflash (even smaller than miniSD) or an outright flashcart that is similar to the 'plug' that ships with the lites.

You do realize that big-N designed the light specifically around the fact that the GBA carts would stick out some... right? (ie: it shouldnt really get in the way or be that big of an issue sticking out like a GBA cart - although that has been one of my annoyances with the m3, that it sticks out in all versions)

Of course. And it looks like crap.

Which is why a flash cart that doesn't stick out would be a hot selling item.
