Does anyone else here have a problem with MP3 playback pauses/skips when you're scrolling up and down the file list? It's nothing critical, but it gets pretty annoying, and I noticed the R4 doesn't have that same problem. Is there any way to get around this, or is the EZ team working on a fix?
I have the same problem on mine, but I think it's because all my MP3 are all encoded at 320kbps, I think I read somewhere that if you decrease the quality, you won't have this problem (I think around 128kbps)
128kbps is okay, I wouldn't mind converting everything to that rate, but 96kbps has some noticeable quality loss. Does anyone know for sure if this is the problem, and what the correct bitrate is? Why does moonshell on the R4 not have any skips?

the fact is, we redraw the bottom screen once you browser each file, because it maybe a nds file or otherwise. we need to scan the file header to check it. ie. mp3 to check the id3, nds file to check the name and icon.
meantime you are playing Mp3. due to NDS isn't a powerful PC running vista, it hasnot enough CPU resource to process MP3 decode and the file scan. that's why you hear the skip sound.
as you said the R4 has not this issue. I should say:you will not encounter this issue too,if you launch a standalont moonshell on ez5.

I wonder if this happen on supercard DS one too ? As far as i know this team use moonshell on their slot-1 flashcart like ez team, no ? If it's not the case, what's the trick then ? An ini file so the ez5 don't have to scan every time something it has already scanned ?
BTW, cyclops team as choosen (like r4 team) to separate NDS files than multimedia files with a simple menu. Moonshell is launched when you want to use mp3/dpg ... and you can go back to NDS part by reseting moonshell. Perhaps it's the right direction to go ?

you can launch moonshell.nds from the EZ5 shell and any benefit plus to having in it yeah i remember it was figured out 96kbps MP3s are fine enough and anything wider will lag down the shell there are other MP3 players for us but you want to poke around your microSD while listening
