Okay, so these forums can be a jungle when you are trying to find anything to help you with your ezf problems.
I started out with an ezf2 powerstar card and an ezwriter 1. Now I have an ez3 card with an ezwriter 2, and it's been hell to get either of them to work anymore.
After deciding not to do any studying for my classes today, I spent hours on end troubleshooting so I could find key things that will solve most issues.
I hope this helps someone! Please add input as necessary.
First, for ez-flash 1 or 2 carts:
It's very simple. plug in your cards, run the install (it should run twice, "allow" it each time.
Run ezmode, check 1/2, and click the, what I assume is, the ok button.
unplug the cart and writer, then plug it back in. (i do this often, it always seems to help.)
Run ezclient (i use 3.26,) and it will scan your card. from here on out, if it is reading your card right, I recommend you search for a faq on using ezclient, or check this faq out for more info:
http://ezflash.sosuke.com/wiki/index.ph ... ash_II_FAQ
Keep in mind that you will need to "burn" each rom individually before adding another one to the cart. Example, you "open" rom A, then "burn" it, then you can open rom B, then burn it, and so on.
This was more of a pain for me. My ezwriter 2 has never really worked, but using the writer that came with my older ez2 works for this ez3 cart. Why? I don't know. I don't really care, either, as long as it works.
I had issues with my ez3 card recently, where I could not properly format it, and I'd get "nand flash id errors" and the like. I searched the forums and found that others had the same issues, and were told it was a hardware problem, and could be screwed. I almost cried because I lost my portrait of ruin and cooking mama save files.
But I found a fix.
THIS WORKED PERFECTLY FOR ME: Use ezmanager 2.22. It's easy to find on this forum.
Plug it in, do the same install thing as before.
switch mode like before, except this time to ez 3. unplug the writer, plug it back in.
Run the manager now. You should be prompted to update your OS. Don't freak out if you're not. In the "system setting" menu on the top you can select it as well. Update it (I click DS, but that's also because I use ds roms.) After this is done, EXIT. Yes, exit, and you guessed it, unplug and re-plug your writer.
Run the manager again. Now click on the other tab, the NAND one, and you should be prompted to format your card. Do so, but make sure you select the correct settings. For me, I have a 4Gbit card (so the bottom setting should say 4096,) which means it can contain 512 MBytes (the top value.) 512 is 1/8 of 4096, just like 64 is 1/8 of 512, and 128 is 1/8 of 1024. Adjust accordingly for your cart, but it should scan it in automatically for you.
After it finishes, I usually get just one unreadable pop-up that is small. I have noticed that it completely worked if you get only one popup, but it didn't work if you get two. You can also tell by the status bar's fullness and the addition of a "saver" folder to the cart on the screen.
Exit the program, unplug, then replug. Now you should be set to add your ds roms to the cart on the second tab. Just add them, write them, close the manager, unplug, replug, and do it again with another rom. It's been working so far for me.
This faq has also helped for my ez3 needs:
If there are any other tips and ideas that will help, or concerns, please address them. I hope this will steer someone away from spending hours on getting one of these carts to work.

that some nice chunky info there good asset to community
however if you need to always unplug/plug your USB/writer
then it sounds like something wrong with your writer/USB
i only had that problems sometimes with my 1gbit EZ3 a while back
before i realize you cant use USB extension cables the writer dont like it
but not with my 2gbit EZ3 which is the one with NAND problems strange enough
also i am pretty sure you dont need to actualy pick the size of your format
i have never bothered
but better let some elder guru answer that if it really matters or not
its a good post but i think flash cart problem are much broader
and thats probably exactly why its a jungle to search
Thank God for you. I've love my ezflah 3, when it works. I figured the plug-unplug thing out myself but I would of loved to have read your post a year ago. One thing I noticed on my 2gb ezflash 3 is that sometimes it doesn't read the roms on the 2gb side so if you exit, plug/unplug/ reload ezmanger they will come back.
