The loader supposedly improves soft reset although the good news as far as I can see it is that for me the GBA slowdown issue when launching from the DS menu appears to have gone (this is not documented in the release notes mind).
With regard to the patch update I have no idea either, some people have said that super robot taisen did not work with the last update so I will try that.

The loader update increases soft reset compatibility. The patch update is supposed to fix "876 - Wario: Master of Disguise". I haven't tried it yet, so I can't confirm it works.

No need to insult the EZ-Team. They've made an excellent product. Be glad they release updates at all. The last time the Supercard Team updated their software was back in December.
@ZeRoLiMiT
You need a copy of the client to patch the roms, recently the EZTeam have been releasing updates to the DLL file which you see here as it is only a few kilobytes rather than the whole program.
You will also need a copy of the loader, it is callled efla_up.bin and you have to copy it to the root of the card and hold R to update.
@meangreenie, I do not see any of the problems you listed as fixed by this update but what the hey.
@everyone else posts on the .cn site seem to say this is just a quick update to boost soft reset capability (apparently as good as the EZ5).
So, I assume that what the kernel update does then is improving the kernel support of the "Reset Patch" option in the EZ4Client (default reset keys L+R+A+B) for DS roms. (the reset patching has worked fine with most GBA roms all along)
I.e. another kernel update with changes to the NDS loader only, and thus the GBA loader remains the same as in the later kernel updates, unfortunately still including the rather serious soft boot bug mentioned by meangreenie.
For users with the EZ4 phat or EZ4 Lite original, it is possible to combine the last fully working GBA loader (v1.680 dated 20060726) with any later NDS loader, using the method described in this thread. Unfortunately it doesn't work for EZ4 Lite Compact or Deluxe users (see reason here).
alcaholjunkie's links come down directly, as for my 4shared ones the message should vanish after a few seconds (you may have to enable javascript quickly if you have it disabled).

EZ4 Kernel datecode 200611227 Click to download
Fixes problems with roms: 0727, 0770, 0782
I downloaded that and it is what you said, so do I just download the most UP to Date patch and just use that one, and not download all the rest of the patches up to that kernel?
You only need the latest "patch" and the latest "kernel". You do not need to download all the previous ones.
Of note are that the "latest" patch and kernel are *not* listed in the first post, they are a few posts back posted by alcohol and uh, scrawl? Or someone else. The edit field doesn't show me a thread preview :)

with the newest kernel, my ez4 won't boot on my ds (works on gba). i rewrote the kernel with the ezfla_up but after patch my gba says, 'trouble copying sector 14'
Ok thank you guys for the help getting my ez up and running, now my next question is how do I flash my gba roms onto the flash of the EZ Flash IV Deluxe?

1) Start up in GBA mode
2) Highlight the ROM you wish to flash
3) Press the "Select" button
4) It will say, "Write to NOR" or something like that.
5) Confirm by pressing the "A" button
6) It will take a couple of minutes to write (Depends on the size of the ROM)
7) COMPLETE!
