A new NDS lite. Thinner than the current version and with 4 brightness settings for the LCD screen.

It will go on sale in Japan on March 2nd 2006.

Damn that is pretty sweet. Gotta wonder if it is going to have firmware protection, etc.

And they haven't said if it's gonna have a slot for GBA games yet, right?

Yes it will have the GBA slot still.

In addition to being smaller and lighter the DS lite will have better buttons/dpad on it -- of course this is relative to the user so some people probably won't like it as much as the regular DS.

wish there were better shots of the thing - almost looks like an artist's rendering of the concept more than an actual photo.

I noticed that too.

There are so many sites where you can get a nice 3D rotating model of things. One for this DS would be all shiny and good. Sure, it has dimensions, but it's not quite the same thing.

And how long before they bring out different coloured versions ? Hhhmm, replacable covers would have been a spiffy addition.
