They changed over to moonshell with EZV, and I honestly wouldn't have much objection if that were something they could achieve with the EZIV as well (though I am not sure if the technical limitations prevent this). Is the space reserved for the loader large enough for Moonshell?

skywalker6705, Moonshell is for NDS only, but EZIV has built in loaders for both GBA and NDS.

EZV is NDS only which is probably why the loader is based on Moonshell in EZV, and not in EZIV.

Ok, but it will be nice if we can a moonshell loader just for NDS, MP3 etc...and a loader just for GBA games.

Like Slade said on another thread, EZ Team is apparently focused on EZ5 for the moment.

Nevertheless, I hope that soon they remember that they are lot of users that own EZ4's model...

I believe that others teams continue to support actively their products of previous generations.

Maybe they have more members.

Keep hoping have an update before the end of year ! (not sure about my english here...)

The current NDS kernel + skin images takes up 2-4 times the space that the MoonShell build they are using on the EZ5 would take (since all images and plugins are stored on the SD card).

This makes me hopeful.

Yep, normal moonshell loads my homebrew to GBA util just fine if I trim off the ndsloader.bin, and resets the DS to GBA mode with the EZ kernel shifted to boot up. Honestly, it shouldn't take much to modify or make a moonshell plugin to at least load GBA files (don't know how the backup save data stuff would need to be worked though).

Whoo update
to save people looking it up
0727 - Tank Beat
0770 - Kabushiki Baibai Trainer Kabutore!
0782 - Hiite Utaeru DS Guitar - M-06

As for castlevania - POR it seems to be a speed issue which while it could be fixed using the patcher (some of the games code would have to be altered as opposed to the relatively simple stuff that tends to happen right now) however it is far easier to speed up the data reading:
use a high speed memory card, expensive but worth it
format using 64K clusters and defrag your card
remove the need for large amounts of data to be read: I have a version with the soundfile header edited to point to other files/sounds for the large demanding sections meaning only a little bit of data has to be read, naturally you lose some sound but I played it for several hours and never crashed while using a generic 512 Sandisk micro with no special format. I have some more testing to do but I will release a patch soon that should even work on all flashcarts.

:? The updated loader/kernel (GBA loader v1.720, NDS loader v1.7xx?) still have some bugs in the GBA loader part, which seems to be introduced between v1.680/datecode 20060726 (which is the last 100% working GBA loader version) and v1.700/datecode 20060906.

The bugs are:

1) Some games doesn't work (white screen and noise, or graphics are messed up, or hangs at the start of games).
2) Reset function doesn't work.

I've sent a mail to Windirt about it, and I hope the EZ Team finds some time in between the EZ-Flash V development to deal with it.

Could you tell me how I can do this?
Formatting my sandisk 1gb with 64k clusters... as windows didn't allow me to format with anything other than some default values.
also, what's this patcher?

Try using command prompt.

I already replied on GBATemp but it was just a patch I made to enable CV:POR to run more smoothly by disabling the sound. Unfortunately I messed and and did not get around to releasing the final version.
