Hello,

EZClient obviously doesn't work when one has a dual core processor (AMD X2 4400+ in my case).
I searched the internet and noticed many people are having the same problem: EZclient.exe simply won't launch.

So what to do? This really sucks because I would like to replace the games that are currently on my EZFlash system..
Maybe the programmers of EZClient can make a hack so it will work?

That would be great! Thanks!

By the way: EZClient is the only program so far that doesn't work with my new dual core processor, ALL other programs I use (and that's a lot) do function just like they did on my previous single core processor..

have you tried a different version of the client or restarted your computer in safe mode? things like that may help.

Thanks for thinking with me, Yoniwei. I have tried all the options you mention. It doesn't work. Here some links to prove I'm not the only one with this problem:

I reallu dont know then and this is a pretty big problem. I think you'll just have to wait until which time the EZ team is able to accomodate you. Now, as these computers are getting more and more common I am sure that a solution will be found. If I see anything useful I'll post! Good luck.

When you say EZClient, are you referring to the EZ4 Client (latest version being 10/10/06)?

I'm having no problems with it on a Intel Core 2 duo, however I'm not using the EZ SD-card reader that came with the EZ4.

I've just run both EZClient (V3.25) and EZManager (V2.22) and regularly run EZ4Client (V1.03).

They all run on my dual core AMD 4600+ cpu on XP 32bit. I'm not so sure the problem is to do with the dual core chip.

tbenschop: you wouldn't happen to be running xp64 or a vista beta by chance would you?

Hello,

well, actually I concluded myself that the problem had to do with a dual core processor. This, because in one of the links (threads) posted above, someone has only updgraded his processor, and EZClient doesn't work anymore.
Also my own case: EZClient worked well with my old computer. On my new computer (which has a dual core proc. now), I used exactly the same installation for Windows XP SP2, and the rest of my software and programs are also almost the same as on my previous PC, so that's why I thought this is a hardware related issue. But Slade just proved it isn't./..

But what could then be the problem? This really sucks!
BTW Scrawl, I'm referring to EZClient 3.25 (also tried some older versions).

The most common problem I have had with EZ clients not launching is improperly edited game lists, but it still at leasts gives a MFC or similar error report. Some things to try (in case you haven't thought of these):

If you are getting a MFC error when it starts (ie: a window does show up when you try to run it) make sure you have everything in the original form and try again.

Make sure the path you have it installed to has no spaces in the names. I have the latest one installed to
c:/ez/1010/EZ4_Client.exe

Try running it in compatibility mode (right click the actual exe, not a shortcut, select the compatibility tab and check the box and use the drop down to pick a mode like win95 or win98). This should force it to use a memory model/environment to run in that is not affected by dual core (though I was never too clear on what types of things compatibility mode changed to make stuff run differently).

All else failing... a minimal win95/98 install in vmware might be able to run it.

Thanks Cory,

Indeed, there was a space in the full path to EZclient.exe.. But I fixed this without any success launching the program.
As with the compatibility mode, also no luck..

Any other suggestions?

If you think there may be a problem with the dual core processor, have you tried setting the affinity so that the EZ4 Client only runs on one core? This may be something to at least try. Here's a good guide on how to set the affinity on a none running app, fix #4 is the one you want:

mother|superior: heck of a thought, hopefully it works. It's stuff like this that makes me happy to be too cheap/poor to upgrade from my XP2600 :)

Maybe I am wrong, maybe it hasn't got to do anything with dual core.. But what's causing the problem then?! I haven't been able to upload new roms to my EZFlash for quite a while now :(

No idea. You didn't mention whether you're using a 32bit or 64bit OS. Could that be the problem ?

I know the EZFlash software just doesn't like to work on 64bit OS's.

Unfortunately, that's not the problem. I'm using XP SP2, which is 32 bit.. Exactly the same OS (same installation CD) as on my previous computer (and EZClient worked fine back then).
