i have the card for more than a year now. it used to work for about a month and then whatever i tried, it just wouldnt work. the card doesnt get recognized. searching this forum didnt help. i just put it away, but now i really like to get it working again. i downloaded the latest ez3 manager. before i start messing with the drivers can somebody please write or point me to a step by step manual on how to do this. (when i look in the folder USB_Drivers it has 9 files, so i have no idea on how to start.)

edit: btw its an eziii with 1gb space

It's probably been a good 4-5 years since I've even used Windows 98 !!

Hhhmm, so long as the linker is recognised, you should be able to uninstall then reinstall the device. Do the leds flash red/green a few times then settle on green ? If they do, then that part of the hardware has initialised correctly.

You should be able to go into device manager and uninstall the linker. Then find as many of those 9 files you can in the Windows directory and delete them. Then reboot.

Then reinstall and hope for the best.

I know firsthand that it works on 98se. First make sure you have the *.inf files in c:\windows\inf and the *.bin, *.sys files in c:\windows\system32\drivers. Then unplug your EZWriter and plug it back in. If it installs and the light turns green then you're good. If not then you should try a different USB port and/or a different USB cable. The problem might also be that the USB ports themselves aren't installed right. You should look in the Device Manager to make sure there is no exclamation mark on the USB controllers.

First: thanks for replying, I really apreciate it. I have not installed anything yet. When I plug it in it gives me a weak red light but nothing flashing or green. When I go to device manager it gives me usb sign with a red cross over it and it says 'unknown device' (maybe not exactly im using another language). I can go and activate it so the red cross dissapears. But then it will probably ask me what *.inf file I need to use, and from my experience this is where it goes wrong (then a danger sign appears above the icon). Also, I'm sure the USB cable is ok, as I plug other devices in it regularly. Could you please tell me the next steps as in what *.inf should I point windows to in order for it to work... (and yes it's 98SE)

Windows automaticly searches through the inf files in c:\windows\inf. So if you copy the driver files to the places they should be then it should install it without any intervention.

I've put it in /inf, but windows didn't recognize it and made it an unknown device. I then pointed it manually to ezwriter.inf but it asks me which one of the list I need, the list is: 'Ez Writer, Ez Writer 2, Ez Writer 2 Initialization, Ez Writer 3 and Ez Writer 2 Initialization'. I chose Ez Writer and after rebooting there's now an exclamation mark over the device and it says 'NTKERN.VXD' cannot load the program. If you know what I should do now I'd like to hear it, if you don't know I guess I'll just put it aside again...
