That's ok man -- most stuff on any forum is repeated 100x over. :) Never thought to use a minimalistic approach like notepad. ;) I just wanna collapse all the Animal Crossing crap outta there since it takes about 1/2 of the database up! I thought Pokemon was bad...

I don't have all the codes stored on my PC, but I can appreciate that Animal Crossing would have a tonne of codes for it.

Geez, I can't wait for the release of the Pokemon games then.

Alright !

I got this from Gscentral.org :

These can be generated with Hex WorkShop. Highlight the first 512 bytes of a ROM image (from 0x0000 - 0x0200) and go to Tools -> Generate Checksum.

In the new window, select Custom CRC, then press the Custom CRC button.

In the new new window, set the following options:

Width: 32-bit
Polynomial: 04C11DB7
Initial Value: FFFFFFFF
Reflection: In and Out
XOR Out: 00000000

Then hit the OK button then the Generate button, and it will give you the "Game ID" in the lower right corner.

I was having a bit more of a look at the ARDS, and I noticed when I put a game in, the gameid was shown on the screen.

This doesn't happen with the MML. There is no id shown.

If someone has another passme card, I wonder if they could test to see if the same thing happens. It could be because Datel make the MML, they block their own nopass from working, but the others might show up as a game.

Sweet about the CRC calculation! :) Now people can actually attempt to use flash carts in conjunction with the ARDS. Luney? :)

Even though it doesn't show the ID in the ARDS they might not actually block it in the software from being used. It is hypocritical of them to block the MML since the fact of there being the MML supports the running 'unauthorized code' or 'unauthorized reproduction of code'... Bastards... Anyway it's worth a shot to try the MML ID anyway and it might surprise you and work. :) I got my EZPass3 still and I think it passes the ID from the game along so that might be the way to go. Unfortunately, I've still no ARDS so I can't test my theories out. :(

Attempt to put thread back on track, I read some of the links and now my head hurts which is pretty bad seen as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_subsampling made sense to me earlier and I think I may have figured out why (insert dodgy overated band of your choice here) got popular too.

@cracker, The other reason I suggest they may block it: I calculated the code for the MML and inserted it into the ARDS, and it wouldnt boot. An educated guess suggests it's looking for a specific game ID before executing code. Why the MML doesn't give a game ID, I can only surmise that either the rom setup is different to a legit Nintendo rom or the ARDS blocks it specifically.

I really don't intend on going out and purchasing a whole bunch more of the nopass' just to see if they show up correctly in the ARDS.

It appears we may well have to wait until someone hacks the AR Firmware (which is downloaded to your pute when you do an update) and allows it to work with carts, by allowing it to boot off any device.

There would still be the issue of the ram trashing. Depending on where the ARDS stores the code to patch the games, some loaders could overwrite this area. Even if it didn't, the ARDS loads the game from the cart and hooks it's code in to patch the game. I don't know how it would work if you wanted to load a loader (the EZ4 OS for example), then load a game. The code to patch the game would execute when the loader is started up. This would probably get trashed when the loader runs the game.

Yeah I think the only hope will be if a flash card is altered to work around the trashing or made to do something similar to game linking on the m3 -- but instead of loading the GBA and then the DS it would have to load the ARDS and patch it in realtime or have it already prepatched to make it believe an area in RAM is the DS cart and then start from there. Programmers for flash carts can do some pretty amazing things so it's possible it might happen for one of the popular brands. Another possibility is if they salvage the engine from the ARDS or make a similar engine that is embedded into the loader. Unfortunately, since there is DipStar it might not happen because they might have the mentality that there is already a software based cheating system so why bother. Hopefully some of the programmers are nerds like us that need our cheat codes though. :)

What is the ID code and checksum you found for the MML? Wanna do some searching in the firmware...

Sweet! It was finally dumped so now I can test out some stuff -- which should turn out to be a miserable failure.

Edit: I checked it out and the ARDS runs! However it doesn't load any code saves because it doesn't have any stored. I wonder if it would be as simple as dumping the save memory off the original cart and loading it into the .sav file... Unfortunately I have no access to an original so I'll havta wait until someone else tests this out or I gain access to the said save file. :) It should allow the use of the ARDS from flash cart with a real cart! I'm pretty positive this will work. :D If only it was the other way around...

Was the dump released as an OLL verified DS rom? Wow now I wanna look for it lol.

EDIT: That was way too easy to find lol.

Interesting idea cracker.

The build quality is just a bit too good for me to want to snap the sucker apart.

The code I calculated is: F4046FBD

I'm not 100% sure this is correct, but it should be :) I don't have a Hex editor installed yet, so I won't be playing around just yet.

I can also dump the ram if you're interested. Somehow I don't think it uses ram. I have a feeling it's using a small flashrom to write the cheat data to.

We'll soon find out.

The save dump would be much appreciated!

BTW a guy on GBAtemp posted this:
Quote:
Be careful with this one guys. I used it with a Max media launcher and somehow it messed up my card. Now when I turn on my DS with it in I only get white screens after the health warning. I guess this is 1 more reason I should have flashed my DS.

That's a scary idea...

Edit: Hmmmm this sucks... OK scratch the idea of that save dump. It appears the cheat codes are actually stored in the 'ROM' of the device since they show up in the dump released yesterday... I threw it into ndstool and it flipped me off... Also tried NDSTS and it did the same thing. They made it so you can't take apart the ROM by creating illegally named directories and it looks like they infinitely subrecurse too! Oh well it's not worth wasting too much time on because if it is hackable then one of the groups will figure it out I'm sure. :P
