I deeply apologize for posting this in both the Discussion and troubleshooting forum. I wasn't sure under which subject would fall, and I hope you understand.

I saw several subjects on the non-workingness of Harvest Moon DS as a flash rom, but that's not what I'm asking here. I own a legal copy of Harvest Moon DS on my DS Lite. I also have, of course, an EZ-Flash III 8Gb GBA cart.

Now, here's my problem. Normally, when you place a copy of 'Friends of Mineral Town' in the GBA slot and play 'Harvest Moon DS', you get extra features, such as new music and friends. Problem is, even with Friends of Mineral Town ROM in the NOR memory, Harvest Moon DS doesn't recognize it as the Friends cart, therefore the extra features aren't unlocked. I know this is a capability with EZ-flash IV, but I sure as hell don't have the money for it, and was wondering if anyone here has gotten such functionality to work. I know there's other games that use that feature, such as Castlevania.

Any help would be appreciated, Thank You.

genesite,

I do not own a DS so this is mere speculation on my part.

Are you able to play the GBA game on the DS? I also think that this might be an issue with the original game looking for a certain memory spot on an original GBA cart that the flash cart isn't going to have. Since there is a loader already on the flash cart it would seem, to me atleast, that the same memory location for storing game saves might not be the same location as the one for the original cart. Again, that is just my speculation since I have never bothered to really look into the hardware and software of the flash cart.

Thanks for your response.

Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what it is. The game definitely plays great off the DS cart and saves nicely. If I knew how, I would edit the loader to make the system think it's the original game cart, even if I couldn't play other games until I loaded a standard loader. The way the feature unlocking works, you just have to have the original in the slot for a single game day and all the features stay unlocked forever.

Anyway, any further advice on the subject would be very helpful. Thanks again, Jason.

Now worries genesite, glad I helped to support your existing thoughts!

The only option I can think of would be to borrow the original from a friend or something, unless someone else has a work around.
