I cant update the dsi firmware at the moment, but someone else wants to update the kernel-would I see a difference in compatibility if I updated the Ezflash vi 805 kernel whilst still on very old firmware (103)?
If I eventually upgrade the firmware to 108a (after the kernel is updated to 3.0 OB8), should I upgrade from 103 straight to the latest version, or upgrade in steps, eg from 103 to 104, then 108a onwards-does it matter?
The dsi is a version 1.3e. If I had the latest firmware and latest kernel, without updating the dsi from 1.3e, will it be reasonably compatible with software?

I have seen several case of ez5i bricked when the firmware update is done from v103 to v108a. To be very safe, be sure to update first in v104 and then in v108a. Of course use the last kernel 3.0ob8.
Btw, if once your ez5i is updated in v108a, you are not able to boot it on your dsi 1.3e, just update the dsi firmware.
