My DS Lite stopped working yesterday and... I need some suggestions on which DS model is the best for the EZ Flash Vi. Should I buy another DS Lite, DSi, or DSiXL? My only doubts about the DSi and DSiXL is that they include wifi and need to be updated occasionally. The updates might block my EZ Flash Vi from time to time (like the 3DS) and I would have to constantly update the firmware. Maybe it's best to stick with the DS Lite?
Suggestions please!

If you do not have an EZ5i then it is DS lite or nothing if you want to continue using your EZ5 (the EZ5i was introduced to allow it to work on the DSi and later 3ds).
I did not mind the DSi XL screen but I would miss GBA compatibility too much and I have yet to see a truly compelling reason to get the DSi (there are a handful of nice shop titles but no DSi exclusives worth mentioning). There is a GBA emulator for the DS these days (an impressive proof of concept and it has a few games working well) and naturally you have the likes of enhanced flash carts but as yet they do not beat the real thing.
"is that they include wifi and need to be updated occasionally" Updates are not forced and you can quite happily ignore updates forever (actually do not quote me on that as some DSi only games might try to update, 3ds and other consoles have seen it but I am not sure about the DSi).
