Please report in this thread bugs found on HOMEBREWS.
EZ5 v1,v2 and Plus + kernel 2.0RCX ONLY.

Image Image Image

A report must have those informations :

HOMEBREW : The homebrew's name here and a link to download it.
HARDWARE: DS version (phat, lite) and EZ5 version. Is also important to post about the microSD you are using.
KERNEL: Which kernel version are you using.
BUG RELATED: Information about the problematic homebrew you are using and detailed information on how reproduce the bug. Be precise so the bug can be reproduced easily.

Here is fake report provided as an example :

HOMEBREW : DS linux
HARDWARE: DS lite + EZ5 v2 + Kingston taïwan 1GB micro SD
KERNEL: 2.0 RC10
BUG RELATED: white screens

Thanks for your participation. ;)

old thread (to be cleaned) :
Quote:
This thread is for bug report about homebrew problems on EZflash products. It will help Mbmax to give correct information to EZflash Team. In this way we will have better chances to get fixes for our favourite hombrews.

Its important to keep this thread clean. The information posted must be relaiable, so that the bugs can be reproduced. I think that we can post at least three catergories of information:

HARDWARE: DS version (phat, lite, DSI, DSI XL?) and EZflash version V (nye, plus, etc) or Vi. Is also important to post about the memory you are using.
KERNEL: Which kernel version are you using.
BUG RELATED: Information about the problematic homebrew you are using and detailed information on how reproduce the bug.

Hope this helps.

Im adding the homebrew tested in this topic. I think i can start with some color coding (extendable of course):

BLUE: Works without problems.
RED: Problems persist.
GREEN: Can work with some fix/workaround.

--------------------------------------Kernel 2.0 RC14---------------------------------

S8DS feezes on start (L+R screen). (seems to work ok on EZVplus)

Nitrografx feezes on start (L+R screen). (seems to work ok on EZVplus)

Nitro Hax: Works fine on DS lite, but it freezes On DSi after you chose the cheats you want, it happened with both versions.

PPSE-DS r10: SD Works Fine (Root). SDHC dont work. PPSE-DS r10 works on EZV v1, EZV v2, EZV Plus. Use Homebrew Menu on EZVi...or touch screen does not work

Video Game Hero: Works fine on a EZ5 and on EZ5i with a microsd (not sdhc) but doesn't work on a EZ5i with SDHC (MbMax helped me to test it). Black screen right after loading it. Maybe it's a DLDI issue? Doesn't work using moonshell 2 dldi loader either.

Moonshell 2. The 3in1 (and other RAM extensions) is not found. FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap. EZ 3in1 RAM extension correctly detected.

Gba Backup Tool 0.21. Doesnt recognize anything.
FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap.

ScummVM. OK.
DoomDS. OK.
NesDS. OK.
JenesisDS. OK.
lameboy ds. OK.
DSx86. OK.

--------------------------------------Kernel 2.0 PRE RC14-----------------------------
SnemulDS: Compatibility issues with hacked roms under Kernel 2.0 RC10. Under Kernel 1.9 OB 11 compatibility was better.

S8DS feezes on start (L+R screen). Need testing on some EZVi (seems to work ok on EZVplus)

DS linux start correctly on my ez5 v2, but the same microSD on my EZ5i 705 + v14 = white screens.

Moonshell 2. Slowness on progressive JPEG opening.
Moonshell 2. The 3in1 (and other RAM extensions) is not found.
FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap. EZ 3in1 RAM extension correctly detected.

Stella DS (Atari 2600 emulator) -- runs fine, menu looks horrible

fmsxDS 0.09 (or any other version) starts but crashes when I try to load a rom.

Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp: Works fine on a EZ5 first edition but doesn't work on a EZ5i (tested on 2.0rc13).

JabberDS: White screens.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI launched form DSOrganize or MoonShell2.

Tales Of Dragur: When try to save it will get all pixly and chrash!.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI. Launched form DSOrganize or MoonShell2 prevents garbled graphics.

No place to hide: Chrashed!.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI. Launched form DSOrganize or MoonShell2 prevents garbled graphics.

You Have To Burn The Rope DS: doesn't run.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI launched form DSOrganize or MoonShell2.

DSReader -- works fine on my R4, but crashes immediately upon opening with the Vi.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI.

Gba Backup Tool 0.21. Doesnt recognize anything.
FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap.

PokeyDS. Crashes as soon as I open the ROM selection menu.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI.

Bunjalloo. Opens , but crashes as soon as I go to enter a URL.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Works with unnofficial DLDI.

ScummVM. Blackscreen.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Version 1.0.0 works fine with unnofficial DLDI.

New Zelda Game: chrashed!
FIX/WORKAROUND: You have to append a loader to the game file and then copy to NOR memory in your EZ3in1. Now you have a working nds game in your EZ3in1, just boot using EZV as a NoPass. (thanks Syntax)

DSx86: White screens on RC10 and RC11.
FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap alone leaves you with a non working keyboard. But its fine when running form MoonShell 2 or DSOrganize with unnofficial DLDI.

FlashMe: Gives blank screens.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Run from within Moonshell2. (thanks Mbmax)

DoomDS: Doesnt run.
FIX/WORKAROUND: Use unofficial DLDI.

GBAexploader 0.58b not working correctly.
FIX/WORKAROUND: DLDI swap. Replace DLDI driver from this kernel with those updated by ps2aich and cory1492 is not dangerous. Don't worry. The only thing to be careful is to use the right one : Ez5s.dldi for µSD and Ez5sdhc.dldi for µSDHC. Rename the file you need to EZ5V2.dldi and copy in EZ5Shell folder. (thanks Mbmax)

Colors! I can't get the pressure sensitivity on Colors! to work.
FIX/WORKAROUND: I used the calibrate setting and everything works now. (thanks OmerMe)

NesDS. TESTED WITH SWAPED DLDI

JenesisDS.TESTED WITH SWAPED DLDI

ComicbookDS. TESTED WITH SWAPED DLDI

NeoDS. TESTED WITH SWAPED DLDI

MapDS. TESTED WITH SWAPED DLDI

lameboy ds. TESTED WITH SWAPED DLDI

BUG RELATED:
Not able to use GBAexploader 0.58b. The hombrew loads, and every time it does prompts a message about using the slot2. Also GBA games seems to load but dont run (freezing at gamboy advance screen). Using this very same HARDWARE this bug does not happen on older kernels such as 1.9 OB 11.

Thanks.

my bug is similar but with another hard:

EZ flash V and Vi
EZflash 3in 1 and M3 GBA expansion
Memory Kinston japan 8 Gb micro SDHC , Kinston japan 2 Gb micro SD and Kinston japan 1 Gb micro SD

Since we're on the topic of homebrew fixes needed, here are problems that persist for me:

DSReader -- works fine on my R4, but crashes immediately upon opening with the Vi http://filetrip.net/f736-DSReader.html . Sure would like to get this one to work!!

Moonshell -- mostly works fine, but crashes when I try to view a JPG picture (and doesn't crash with the exact same JPG picture on the R4)

Stella DS (Atari 2600 emulator) -- runs fine, menu looks horrible (but I haven't tried it on the R4, so maybe it's just the Stella itself and not a compatibility issue -- but screen shots on the developer's web page look much cleaner) http://filetrip.net/f599-StellaDS-0-71.html

PokeyDS (Atari 8-bit emulator, can be found here: http://www.portabledev.com/pages/ds/jeu ... okeyds.php ) -- crashes as soon as I open the ROM selection menu, runs just fine on the old R4. Would be just thrilled if this one could get working on the Vi

Bunjalloo (web browser) -- opens , but crashes as soon as I go to enter a URL, works fine on the R4

It doesn't crash, but it's slow as hell ! -_-
Wait a little and you will see the progress bar moving.
This happen on progressive JPEG.
On ez5 v2 we have better result but still stay slow comparing to the cyclods evo.

with Gausen fix (change dldi archive of 2.0 for 1.9) working perfectly with M3 GBA expansion and EZ 3 in 1, tested in

-SDHC and SD (using the proper archive),
-2.0 RC 10 with EZ5V2.dldi changed for EZ5V2.dldi for 1.9 OB11
-DS Lite
-EZFlash Vi
-M3 GBA expansion and EZ 3 in 1 (thx gausen)

I try others homebrew with this fix and this is the result:
NesDS:ok
JenesisDS:ok
ComicbookDS:ok
NeoDS:ok
MapDS:ok
ScummVM:blackscreen
Moonshell 2 : ok
lameboy ds : ok

in other words , on next kernels , modify plz dldi archive to improve homebrew compatibility

thx

I also do think that dldi drivers on EZflash need some work. They are essential to most homebrew apps.

HARDWARE:
DS Lite
DS PHAT
EZ Flash V
1 GB Kingston made in Japan Micro SD card
KERNEL:
2.0 RC9
BUG RELATED:
I can't get the pressure sensitivity on Colors! to work.
Anyone knows what to do about it? (I DLDI patched it)

Edit:
Well, I can use the pressure sensitivity, but it works like this: the more pixels you press on, the darker the line is.
Really weird IMO, I can't press a lot of pixels when holding the stylus normally, only when pressing with it's side or with my finger.

Nevermind, I used the calibrate setting and everything works now. xD

Mbmax or anyone else in the know: are we likely to see a general homebrew fix anytime soon?

Not being pushy or impatient -- I love all the work you guys do. Just curious.

i think since gausen has earned a sticky
he should be obligated to update his first post
with a solid list of what doesnt work
so others can check it and test
otherwise i predict this will be confusing
and wasted sticky
