Hello - forgive me if this is posted elsewhere, but I'm reading lots of posts and getting very confused as there seems to be conflicting information.
Yesterday, I purchased:
DSi (still in package - uncertain of firmware - although probably 1.4 and if not, system will be asking to update immediately) EZ-Flash Vi + Sandisk 4G. Havent received this yet.
I went with this option because I was reading that the EZ-Vi DOES work with 1.4 but now am reading posts that people have bricked their cards, getting errors and are having difficulty. What is my best option here? Should I return the DSi for a DSLite? I really don't care about the camera and MP3 player on the DSi but did want it for the store (Flipnote especially).
Does the DSLite have firmware issues with any flash cards and also, what is my best course of action -- I would rather be safe than sorry? Thanks for your help!!!

Your DSi is a 1.3 for sure. I doubt old DSi stock are yet all sold.
So you are scary because you see guys with problem on this forum ? But why are you here ? It's because you have a problem, right ? See, in forums you will not find guys who say "yeah, my ezvi is wonderful, it works great, i love it !" No you will see guys who needs help because they are in trouble. But does this mean a flashcart is bad ?
So now. If your DSi is in 1.3, it will not update automatically once you have started it. It needs a wifi connection to do so. So don't worry about that. Then, update your EZVi into firmware v12 first, to see which hardware revision you have [705] or [805]. If it's a [705] than update again into v14. you are done ! Once your EZvi firmware updated, you can safely update your DSi in firmware 1.4.

If its, brand new I doubt it's a version 1.4, and it will only update if you go to the dsi store, so If your that worried never go to the store or if it tells you to upgrade don't do it. I had problems with my card but got it up today. I just had to use the latest 2.0 kernel and that pretty much had everything I needed and it worked fine.
