A note on GTA.
Note if you want GTA on a stable kernel (for what it is worth the beta line runs games as good as the stable) you will need to use a simple patch/hack: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=13974 or some other method of getting it running.
Also unless you know what was done, how it was done and understand the process using prepatched roms is not advised; there have been multiple hacks with varying levels of success and several methods of doing things even then which can cause problems.
This also applies to the European release, the same hack from the link above should work on the European release.

1.86h has been released. 1.86 is the current stable line of the kernels, it has the same fixes as 1.90 open beta 8 but lacks the features of the open beta (as well as the issues). Note EZ5i users need to use 1.90 open beta 6 or later, all other EZ5 models can use this kernel.

Now I haven't updated in a while.
I think I updated sometime mid-2007..

Can anyone tell me exactly how I install this new kernel?
Cause.. I just get the old loader, and without the shell folder, it won't even boot.

The only guide I can find says to extract this file to the root of the sd card, nothing else..

Either I need this, or an updated savefile

Also is your EZ5 a v1 (sticker white) ?

How do I check my previous kernel?
Yeah, white sticker (with horisontal lines and the EZ V logo on it)

press start under the shell if my memory is good.

Is it you on IRC chan ? if it's the case, i will help you on IRC, it's more simple.
Edit : Ok. It was from k1.41 to newer kernel so we have done the bootstrap update and than updated his ez5 with last stable kernel 1.86h.

It's the first thing to think when a game doesn't start.

Excuse me but how do you disable soft reset please ? I've got the same problem with bomberman 2

Yes, but I'll go ahead and just use 1.90 OB8 (OB9 once it's safe).

During the time the forum was offline, ez team has released a new firmware for the EZ5i (rev. 5) and the kernel 1.90OB9 is available again .
