I made my own skin using cracker's skinner program.
I custom designed everything, however when i updated the ezfla_up.bin on my nds the screen doesn't load. it appears with two black screens.
Can someone help me? I am not sure I did something wrong (i used photoimpact to cut out the images and used the same ratios as the other skins that works)
Progressive scanning needs to be disabled when saving the images - this causes many problems with skinning.
Just to be certain - did you do the skin & txt .exe option on the skinning program to actually rewrite the ezfla_up.bin file within the EZSkinner ?? If not, you've just put a default .bin back onto your card.
There's a great many threads already around here about the EZIV skinning - I'm sure you'll find the answers around here somewhere.

Good luck
What do you mean by "Progressive Scanning needs to be disabled when saving the images"?
P.S I tried to use some other skins and replaced it with only one image (i.e mainBG) and it still appears with 2 black screens when i switch on my NDSL

Use a different program to resave the images if you cant find the options for the image in the one you are using. Irfanview comes to mind.
Progressive is an option that can be used when creating images. Basically, have you have ever loaded a big image from a website where it shows up as blurry, and then gets progressively sharper until the whole thing is loaded? Well, libjpeg that they used on the menu/DS doesn't like those types of images, so they will fail to load (crashing the routine that loads jpg images).
