Hong Kong (which if I recall is the same time zone as the EZTeam) is 8 hours ahead of us meangreenie, 2 hours behind you Slade.

While growing up with/first learning to use windows 3.11 and below has left me able to deal with 8.3 naming the only time I would ever notice it really is with mooshell which takes long file names not to mention tags. It is still very much appreciated though.

By the way I have been working on a EZ4 from the box to your DS type of guide (mainly I am just butchering the wiki articles thus far), would it be worth including it in a download do you think as I consistently see how do I have an EZ4 how do work this/we need documentation in reviews/forums/newsgroups/irc etc.

FAST, yeh I know they're 2hrs behind Aus. Well this part of Oz anyway. And they usually post the files fairly late in the afternoon it seems of late. So I should be home to get them.

Yeh by all means, if you write up a short how to guide. Hhhmmm, what are the chances of getting it compiled into an mht file ? If you're not sure, they're compiled html files. I'd prefer that say over pdf, mostly because the mht file will compress better than the pdf. Although if pdf is easier for you to create, then that's a good idea. It'll be easy for me to include it in the archives. If you do create it, please ensure the correct people get the correct acknowledgements. :)

This update is FANTABULOUS! They solved the long names going off the screen by having them constantly scroll when they are highlighted like Winamp does with long mp3 names. I knew I would not be disappointed with my purchase of the EZIV!

cracker, if you haven't already, check the front page of this thread. Windirt has updated it.

Files have been mirrored in the usual place.

I have a few things I need to do before testing this, but it seems cool enough.

And GBA long file name support too. It's getting there :)

Edit: Strangely enough, the rom list was never updated. Keep using this thread for updates.

The new update seems nice with the enhanced DS menu and long file name support and the up/down page browsing.

but.. quote...

"3. Please do the DS game auto saver backup under DS mode. don't backup DS game saver under GBA mode. because GBA mode haven't long name support yet. if you want play GBA game, please ensure you already backuped the DS saver under DS mode . then switch GBA mode. this issue will be resloved on next release with GBA longname support. "

...this seems a bit akward, I have 2 young boys using the EZ4, and I can't see them remembering to start up in DS mode to back up the saves properly, so I might wait untill long file names are fixed in GBA mode too.

But nice fix.. keep them coming EZ-team (hint.. Tony Hawks needs fixing)

edit.. btw, I feel sorry for 'Ettan' as they still have not fixed the Datel Max Launcher problem.

@meangreenie, there should be another update in about two days according to the chinese forums.

So the wait shouldn't be too long.

Personally I might do the same. I'm kind of used to the short filenames and couldnt be bothered transferring games over again just to get the extra names on there. Once I've finished playing the current gen of games, I'll upgrade the core.

It is good work on their behalf never the less.

@cracker: Nyer ! ;)

Did you just do an Australian 'nyah' at me!? ;)

That's great about the long filenames finally being supported. Hope it carries over to the EZ3 users (when there's finally an update). I like the idea of the WinAmp style scrolling but honestly it's not needed. I'm fine with my m3's non-scrolling long filenames. :)

so they fixed long filename support ... does this mean the EZ4 will take a FAT32 format now?

I'll say it again... FAT has nothing to do with long file names. With a device like GBA FAT16 works better because of limited memory, and faster seek times.
