.ips update fixes error, "The internal battery has run dry." For Game Boy Advance Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire flash cartridge gba rom. The error is due to flash carts not having a Real Time Clock (RTC). Works great for checking time, setting time, and adjusting the time on the clock forward on the EZ-Flash 4! You can grow your berries quickly or adjust for other time based events. For example, plant a berry and then move the clock forward to accelerate growth.

Image

*Applies gbata's RTC patch
*Adds a clock to every Pokémon Center
*You can reset the clock at any Pokémon Center
*You can view the time at any Pokémon Center
*The font has been changed to the one used in Pokémon Emerald
*The size of textboxes has been altered to the size they are in Pokémon Emerald, to accommodate the new Emerald font (however, Ruby/Sapphire colors are still used)

Interesting- I recalled years ago there were some things that made the patched games a bit easier with regards to berries (more like accelerated time) but the ones that exist today seem more basic. Anyway enough of that and thanks for the mini guide- it is likely to be of use to a few of our visitors although I will note GBATA has a nice IPS patcher http://www.no-intro.org/tools.htm )

Also have you tried out the emerald stuff yet http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=246089
I would but I suffer pokemon induced narcolepsy.

So, the GBATA ips patcher is the best one to use?

From what I understand now, that Day and Night system relies upon an RTC script which makes use of the computer's clock on a GBA emulator. If that is the case, it would not work on a flash cart. But please correct me if I'm wrong because that patch looks really cool.

Best IPS patcher is a long and boring story (the IPS spec was never formalised and there were several hacks, tweaks and bad implementations) but GBATA works well enough.

I do not know what goes with the patch (pokemon bored me silly before I had to suffer the bi annual releases and flooding of these sorts of forums when the inevitable problems emerged) and yeah emulators do nice things like that but the ones who linked it up felt it in combination with a few other patches (pokemon hackers do have some fairly capable ASM hackers among their ranks) should have finally sorted emerald (it is (was?) one of the only major games to cause true problems for flash carts).
