I just received my EZ-Flash IV from realhotstuff.com yesterday. Without thinking, I stuck in a micro sd, put it in my GBA SP and turned it on. After the initial "GAMEBOY" screen it went to a star wars background with a file menu that said "hold L button". Holding L did nothing and I shut off the gameboy. I then proceeded to follow every proper step from formatting the card to pasting the .bin file in the sd card's root. Now when I power up my gameboy it goes to the initial "GAMEBOY" screen, but rather than "Nintendo" popping up with that joyful ding it has random pixels similar to how it looks when you insert a dirty game.

I've tried it in two SPs and a Micro with the same screen.

Is it possible that I ruined the EZ-Flash cartridge?

Anything could be possible but if you saw it work once I see no reason for it to not work again.

Three's this trick I've been kicking around for ages that I have never personally done and have not heard of anyone say that it ever helped but I'll say it again.

There is a possibility that the pins of the cart aren't making a clean enough connection with the gba slot. Try jamming a thin amount of paper between the board and the casing of the ez4 pin slot.

This is called the "paper trick". The idea is to create more pressure under the pin bed so that it makes better contact with the GBA.

Alternatively try cleaning the contacts.

nevermind. it has worked 3 times within about 30 attempts. i was able to update the kernel, then it wouldn't work. i added a second piece of paper and cleaned the contacts. the contacts are pressed so tightly it is difficult to get the cart in. the other 2 times that it decided to get past the "GAMEBOY" screen it froze on a black screen and a white screen.

i'm pretty sure i'll try to return the cartridge unless someone who has had the same problem can give me a definite solution.
