hey guys, i'm new to this and I'm sure you hear this question a lot. I have a gameboy micro.

I want to play GBA roms and that's about it on it. I'm hearing that I would want an EZ IV...but I discovered your site today and see that there is an EZ V?

Can anyone give me some advice on what to purchase? I just want whatever has the most compatibility with the most popular GBA roms...and is easy to use as well. I just mostly play games like mario advance 2, 3, etc.

Thanks in advance!!

P.S. - Also, if you could give me a hint on where to get one cheap, that'd be great. :D

The EZ5 is a DS slot cart so will not work with a GBA Micro (the 3 in 1 the EZTeam made to compliment it would but you need a DS slot cart to get it to work).

The EZ4 has 4 models: normal, lite, lite-deluxe and lite-compact.
The first is the size of a GBA cart and uses miniSD, the rest use microSD and are able to fit in the smaller GBA slot of the DSlite (you can replace the case though) although the cheaper compact lacks serious GBA capabilities while the deluxe has better GBA compatibilities (long story short SD is too slow for GBA and the deluxe has bigger sections of the fast memory needed for it to work). Check the wiki for more detail:

Compatibility is nigh on perfect for all of the EZ range, at worst you will need an external patcher with a readily available patch or we would suggest you use an emulator (the classic nes/famicom mini series do not work but the emulators are better).
GBATA (patcher and some inbuilt stuff)

Bunch of patches:

Thanks for the very informative response! I am only really interested in playing the most popular titles, Mario Advance, Donkey Kong, etc on my GameBoy Micro. So you're saying I wouldn't have much trouble at all if I went with a EZ IV deluxe? I was also looking at one called a Supercard, but I can't find much support on it. Is it better...and if so, how?

One other question, is there a page that lists which GBA games work using the EZ IV and which don't? All I could find was a page dedicated to DS games. THANKS!!!

EZ4 GBA compatibility is nearly perfect save the lack of RTC for which you need a patch for games (Pokemon and Golden Sun are the only ones that use RTC AFAIK). Coulda swore the wiki had a list for GBA compatibility but am only seeing DS compatibility... :?
