Bootstrap loader upgrade instruction

Don't extract the EZ5SYS.BIN in the 1.68 package to your MicroSD root folder unless you already meet the condition 1 and 2

1. Your EZ5 cart must already updated to boot from EZ5SYS.bin. if you used the EZ5SYS.bin rename to EZ5UPLDR.bin update before. please update the smaller EZ5UPLDR.bin in the 1.68 package. the bootstrap loader update will not start unless the cart use the EZ5SYS.bin boot method.

2. Charge your DS power to full, connected with a charger will be better.

3. After you meet the above two conditions, extract the EZ5SYS.bin to your MicroSD root folder, put MicroSD into EZ5, EZ5 into DS, power up EZ5 as usual, the upgrade process will automatic start check the bootstrap loader version and upgrade. the process cost 3-5 seconds, Don't power off warning will displayed on the screen. power off DS while upgrade in the processing will cause your EZ5 cart bricked permanently. EZ5 will boot in desktop after upgrade. you can safe power off your DS now.

4. to verify the bootstrap loader version. just check the EZ5 boot menu by boot up EZ5 while R key pressed.
Black BG and big white font means older version, deepblue BG and small white font means new version.

5. Upgrade prcess only show one time, once you upgraded sucessful, it never show up again. please use 1.68 kernel as usual. even rename it and flash it to chip will be ok.

it modified from EZ4Client, don't mind too much

you can add the gba cht with the rom and send it to MicroSD

1. cheat for 3in1 expansion cart only work on EZ5
2. cheat menu only show up when the ROM written over or press R+A in the EZ5 main desktop.
3. cheat not work when 3in1 expansion cart used as a standalone gba cart.
4. the rom binded with cheat may cause the DS-GBALINK fail, use the clean rom do so.
5. the cheat is default actived, in game disable hotkey is L+R+SELECT, active hotkey is L+R+START.

How can I become a tester?

I have a major degree in communications and a lot of time to test during the holidays!!
I own every EZ product made.

Sweet, when one the testers get a hold of the cart, can you post a preview of the skins in there proper positions.

WINDIRT or SCRAWL
have the ez-team made a skinner that will be released instead of a fan made project, just means people can start skinning straight away. I suggest a the program and a few previews mapping out were each image goes.

cant wait to hear from the testers what the product is like. Im going to asume Slade, FAST, Cracker, Yee and Luney have been sent one, considering the EZ-team has there addresses and the product have been sent. And if you already have a Mirco SD card i think releastically purchasing a EZ5 want set you back much $$$, think about it, about 8 slot 1 carts have been announced, alongside some really cheap ones like (R4 i think). So im sure there will be another rpice drop just like we saw with the EZ4 market. Remember how much you paid for a EZ2 and an EZ4, a considerably amount of diference in $$$. My guess is about $25 tops (US)

I suggest getting familiar with skinning Moonshell.

You no longer need to recompile the kernel - simply drag and drop your artwork into the shell folder on your MicroSD.

So I guess, like the Supercard DS1, the EZV uses moonshell as the GUI?

That's great, easy skinning is always a plus. I don't like recompiling the kernel.

Just to let people know, I was sent a test cart.

I will not however have the cart until about 10.30pm 19th Dec 2006, Sydney, Australia time.

I don't have a permanent business hours address so everything is shipped to my wife, and she's working back late today (of all days!).

I'll start another thread to discuss what people would like me to test on it.

Given Windirt's information, the whole cart sounds promising.

Edit: Windirt, your links don't work. I can't update and test the cart. The only file that does work is the Hybrid patching software.

@windirt: I tried changing between all the different save types and got the same results with Tony Hawk Downhill Jam. It's no big deal to wait a few seconds for that one title though since it doesn't affect gameplay.

Is there something like a client or a manager for the EZ-Flash5 like the client for the EZ-Flash4 and the manager for the EZ-Flash3
