Original thread: I spent a fair while updating and fixing errors in the GBA naming lists of EZClient and EZ4 Client (they use the same names lists), this thread is to share it. Myself and many others have tested it and I now consider it a "final style list" suitable for replacing the original, many thanks to connie at no-intro and kazumi213 for their data and contributions.
You can grab it here (the file is called GBAlist with some numbers for the date (Eu standard) and is a simple zip file)
Direct link: http://www.4shared.com/file/21116517/e7 ... 82007.html (my current host means that the link will change between revisions so if you are going to link to it I would advise telling people to go my main site and it will be the GBAUP.zip or GBAlist with a date, feel free to rehost on your site/forum though)
To use it simply replace the romname.lst in the Language directory of EZ4 Client or the langdata of EZClient and restart the program.
Included in the zip is a copy of the updated romname.lst and my excel spreadsheet I used to make it so you can easily update it in the future (I plan on updating it too).
As for the actual update the roms are now named as is found in Offline lists official GBA naming dat with the region of their release in (), e.g. (E), following the name. The exception to this being names longer than 64 characters have had to be shortened (this is limited to some GBA video titles, 2 in 1 type games and a couple of more obscure Japanese titles). Seen as they are useless on a flash cart most of the hardware/cheat releases (action replay, gameshark, play yan, dog trainer etc.) are not included.
The early Japanese games that had hacked headers and were included in the original lists have been replaced with pure forms. Added also are some betas and unreleased titles (basically the ones with good headers to begin with). I also added Goomba, Pocketnes and SMSAdvance so the rom is automatically named with the system(s) they emulate, post if there is any other emulators/homebrew you would like added.
Chinese names are now back and updated (some of the later ones without region dupes will not have Chinese names).
I may also clean up the romname.lst file to make it more human readable (and so easier to edit quickly, Iuse excel normally though), as it stands I have to take the .txt file excel produces and tweak it a bit in word.
If using this do not do an online update unless you pull the file back to be replaced later.
Should you encounter any errors please report them back here.
As for cheats I have a bunch of stuff to do right now but I am working on renaming, translating, updating and improving the cheats. EZClient automatically views the the cheats names from inside the file anyhow.: viewtopic.php?t=1806 . You are more than welcome to lend a hand in this project too.
If you wish to have a go at updating the rom list yourself here is the syntax of the romname.lst: It is plain ASCII text, although it can use other encoding in places (trial and error will be required here).
The first section is the internal name of the rom followed by the second part of the serial (it will be 4 letters), this is then followed by a | (shift and the button next to z for me), followed the Chinese name another | and the English name.
For example here is the header infomation from GOOMBA grabbed with GBATA: The header information of file goo.gba ----------------------------------------- Software Title: GOOMBAGOOMBA Game Serial: AGB-GMBA-(there is normally another section here) Maker Code: Publisher: Version: 1.0 Logo Code: OK Complement: D0h Save Type: NONE File Size: 2 mbit (305316 bytes) CRC32: 09DBF556 -----------------------------------------
The corresponding entry in the dat would look like this:

edit: I had posted a link to a personal ez3 romname.lst, but it's outdated now! I kept getting hits for it, and I don't want to confuse anybody with it.

Yeah I do not know what happened to my site: I can still access the FTP to upload to it. I guess I overloaded the bandwidth or something.
Edit
My spam filter caught the wrong mail: I got booted off for remote loading. Guess http://anonym.to/? is not as reliable as I thought. Anyone suggest any hosts that allow offsite linking?.
I would host my own site but I do not have a junk computer to do it right now.
I will take a look at your list nago, I realised I screwed up the Chinese names by enocding it incorrectly. My list has pretty much everything except play-yan and Action replay entries.
I was kind of hoping it would be adopted as the standard version and we could go from there, Slade said he would host it at some point but I wanted to get it good first. I have not looked at the EZ3 one yet though.
I was really bored I would hex edit the EZ software and get it to update from here as well.

@CS, thats my department, and I was just about to suggest it.
FAST, email the files to me and I'll host them here. There isn't a problem. My ISP isn't fussed about bandwidth or offsite linking (I've been doing it for almost a year now) and sosuke increased the site's bandwidth allowance too, so we should be ok there as well.
the ez4 client will crash i replaced... the romlist.lst in the language folder and then tried to load a GBA game.and then i get the mfc error.. t crashes there is a fault in the list :S
I just got my EZ4 Lite in yesterday and have been experimenting with the cart. I came across this from the wiki, but I seem to be crashing just like xenogear is when I use this updated list file. I renamed the old list file and put the updated one into the Language directory and proceeded to load up the client and clicking Open on any ROM (both DS and GBA) will give me the debug error and kick me out of the program. Any ideas?
I fixed the list and the broken sword entry (thanks ZildjianKX things like that are appreciated). I also updated the list to the Premier Action Soccer (anyone who wants this morning's garfield release will have to type it in by hand I am afraid).
Unfortunately I had to break chinese naming entries but the other language users should be OK once again.
I have a new site which acts as a kind of virtual drive so you will have to go and grab the GBAUP.zip there. I have included my excel file and the romname.lst file, I did some quick testing (200 odd roms, first to last entries and it worked OK).
I will figure out the Chinese encoding and sort that as well but any Chinese users will be out of luck until I next update it (it is all English past the last EZTeam entry anyhow).
